The Mekong Wetland University Network

The Mekong Wetland University Network (MWUN) for wetland research and training in the Mekong was established in 2002. The first network meeting took place at the University of Science in Ho Chi Minh City on November 14, 2002 and in February 2003, MWUN's first executive meeting took place at Mahidol University, Thailand. Presidents of 8 founder universities signed the first Memorandum of Understanding. Since then MWUN has been actively connecting hundreds of wetland professionals in the Mekong region through its training and research activities. In 2023, the Mekong Wetland University Network has expanded its cooperation network with 26 member universities from 7 countries (Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam). In this year 2023, the network is celebrating its 20th anniversary of cooperation.
